The Department Microbiology was established in the year 2004. Research within the department is focused on Environmental Microbiology, Biodegradation, Medical Microbiology, Bioactive Phytochemicals and Biofuels. The department has excellent infrastructure with the basic and advanced equipment for research. In addition to various teaching programmes, the faculty of the department contribute extensively to research in modern areas of Microbiology. The department has completed a major project, sponsored by the DST for 13.5 lakhs. The department also is supported by the Tamilnadu State council for Science and Technology under popularization of science activities scheme. Our department is one among the four departments in the college, recognized and supported under DBT Star college scheme. Tie up with diagnostic laboratories for placements. A Diploma programme in Clinical Laboratory Techniques Linkages with Research laboratories for career enhancements Certifications in fostoc.

I am Agalya, Completed M.Sc., Microbiology from HICAS, during the academic year 2007-2009. It was my immense fortune and luck to be the part of this organization where have grown. The entire faculty in Microbiology department leaves no stone unturned to shape my future. The infrastructure of Microbiology lab is one of the finest which stands out the most. The best thing about the department is the cross-culture interaction between students & faculty. With an attitude of being ever ready to help, and not only delivering classroom teachings, but they are also the pillars of the learning gained from this esteemed college and this is a treasure for life. I have established my leadership, time management and team skills and have also been able to advance these skills to the whole new augment level. My Two years has been a wonderful experience of learning with prolific exposure to outside. Huge respect, love and devotion for entire faculty members and department. It was full of learning and grooming oneself. It gave me an opportunity to meet different kind of people and learned many things. Beautiful campus, Massive Library, Hostel which gives a positive vibe to stick with. I truly believe that HICAS stands strong and firm with their motto "Where Education is Beyond Academics".
